Health packages (English version)
At Capio Privathospital, we prioritize your well-being through our preventive health examination packages. Unlike investigative programs, our approach is focused on maintaining and improving your health.
All Packages Include:
- Comprehensive Blood Tests: Conducted before your visit, including checks for hemoglobin, platelets, inflammation markers, cholesterol, kidney and liver functions, pancreas function, fasting and long-term blood sugar, thyroid function, and vitamin D.
- Lifestyle Review: An analysis based on a pre-filled questionnaire, followed by a discussion about your lifestyle choices.Save
- Body Analysis: Assessment of weight, estimated fat percentage, visceral fat, and more.
- Vital Signs Measurements: Checking your pulse and blood pressure.
- Lung and Heart Health Assessments: Lung function test and an electrocardiogram (heart diagram).
- Medical Examination: A thorough physical examination by our healthcare professionals.
BRONZE Package: Includes all the above-mentioned services.
SILVER Package: In addition to the Bronze package, the Silver package offers a health plan focusing on diet and exercise. Cardiorespiratory fitness is estimated using the Seismofit system.
GOLD Package: Building on the Silver and Bronze package, the Gold package further includes ultrasound examinations of the carotid arteries to detect atherosclerosis, and an ultrasound of the thyroid to identify any abnormalities.
How are your health packages designed for prevention?
Capio's health packages are specifically designed to prevent illness in the individual.
We start with you and your current state of health based on a thorough discussion about the pre-completed questionnaire, the examinations performed and relevant tests. In this way, we identify risk factors that can potentially lead to disease and we also assess whether there is any suspicion of existing disease.
We provide you with personal guidance and advice on how to best prevent illness based on the recommendations of the Danish Health Authority.
Why aren't cancer marker blood tests included in the packs?
At Capio, after careful consideration and reflection, we have deliberately chosen not to perform the so-called cancer marker blood tests in men and women without symptoms of cancer, as no cancer marker blood tests today are sufficiently accurate and safe. Therefore, cancer marker blood tests are not offered as part of public screening programs for various cancers.
Cancer marker blood tests can be elevated without having cancer and can be normal even if you have cancer.
We don't want to risk putting our patients through unnecessary assessment programs with potential risks of complications, nor do we want to create a false sense of security that you are healthy without necessarily being healthy.
We take a number of other blood tests in connection with the health check, and from these, as well as the thorough clinical examination and extensive conversation about your health, it is often possible to get an indication of whether a serious illness may be suspected. If we assess that this is the case, you will be guided to your own doctor so that you enter the system through the most appropriate pathway.
We believe this is the most proper way to go.
Why don't the packages include mammograms for women?
In Denmark, we have a well-functioning breast cancer screening program for women aged 50-69 years. It has been estimated that mammography screening every two years in this age group is optimal in terms of finding breast cancer, and there are no studies that show that more frequent mammography screening is better than every two years.
Mammography is not recommended for screening in other age groups.
This is because women in the 50-69 age group are more likely to develop breast cancer. In addition, younger women often have denser breast tissue, which can make the assessment of a mammogram more difficult. Mammography is therefore a less safe method for women under the age of 50.
A mammogram involves exposure to a certain amount of X-ray radiation, and the Executive Order on Ionizing Radiation and Radiation Protection* states that people outside the official screening program should not be exposed to X-ray radiation unless breast cancer is suspected.
At Capio, we have therefore made a considered decision not to offer mammography as a screening in our preventive health packages.
