Prevention and facts about osteoporosis

If you have a family history of osteoporosis, it's especially important to pay attention to your bones, as the risk of low bone mineral density can be hereditary.
Osteoporosis most commonly affects women over the age of 50 and women who have gone through menopause, as the lower production of estrogen can cause bones to weaken.
Most often, it is only after a fracture that osteoporosis is suspected. If the changes are detected early, the progression can be stopped before osteoporosis develops. That's why it's important to react if you experience collapses or small fractures.
Some medical treatments can affect your bone mineral density. For example, long-term treatment with adrenal cortex hormone.
