Gynecological issues relate to diseases of the female reproductive organs, including the ovaries, cervix and vagina. Symptoms of gynecological disease can appear suddenly or as a recurring problem for the woman. We examine for uterine prolapse, fibroids, ovarian cysts and cell changes, among other things.

Bleeding disorders

Bleeding disorders are common and can be completely unimportant, especially in very young women and in women around menopause. However, as there are many different causes of bleeding disorders, it's important to get it checked.

Examination for cervical cell changes (colposcopy)

Cell changes are not cancer, but they can develop into cancer if left untreated. At Capio Privathospital, we offer examination and treatment for cell changes.

Cone surgery

With cone surgery, we can remove the cell changes that our gynecologist has found. This way, we can remove the precursors of cervical cancer before it develops. Our doctors will assess whether and to what extent cone surgery is right for you. Among other things, they take into account your age, including whether you have previously given birth before your due date or whether you have not yet been pregnant but would like to be in the future.

Muscle nodules on the uterus

Uterine fibroids are very common. They occur in around 20% of fertile women and are almost always benign. If fibroids cause symptoms, they must be treated, otherwise they generally do not require treatment.

Uterine prolapse or prolapse of the uterus

Sinking or prolapse of the uterus or the anterior/ posterior wall of the vagina occurs when the pelvic floor is overloaded and/or weakened. Symptoms typically include a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, difficulty urinating and defecating, lower back pain, pain during intercourse, etc. In some cases, medical treatment is sufficient, in other cases surgery is necessary. Our gynecology experts always offer a thorough examination and plan an individualized course of treatment.

Underwater examination of the abdomen

A pelvic examination is typically performed as part of the investigation of lower abdominal pain, suspected ovarian nodule or cyst, a fluid-filled fallopian tube or suspected endometriosis in the abdominal cavity. It is also used as an emergency procedure in cases of suspected ectopic pregnancy.

Surgery for ovarian cysts

Cysts in the abdomen are most commonly found on the ovaries. There are several different types of cysts, the vast majority of which are benign. For smaller ovarian cysts that are not accompanied by pain or other complicating factors, it may be appropriate to wait and see if the cyst disappears spontaneously. In other cases, surgery will be necessary.

Removal of the uterus

The most common reasons for uterine removal are fibroids, bleeding disorders, pain, sagging, cell changes or cancer of the uterus.

If the uterus is not significantly enlarged and there is no cancer, the preferred surgical method is often to remove the uterus through the vagina. Alternatively, we can also perform the procedure through the navel and three small incisions in the abdomen. In cases where the uterus is severely enlarged by muscle nodules, a traditional open surgery with an incision through the abdominal wall is often chosen.
