Abdominal wall hernia is a protrusion of the peritoneum through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. It is most commonly seen after previous surgery, but it can also be a congenital or acquired weakness in the abdominal wall muscles. The hernia can cause discomfort and pain, especially during coughing and physical work. There may also be cosmetic discomfort.

At Capio, our skilled surgeons perform endoscopic hernia surgery. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and you will be discharged the same day or the day after surgery.

Removal of Skin Folds Around the Anus (Marisks)

Skintags are folds of skin around the rectum that can develop after hemorrhoids and cause irritation or discomfort. If they cause persistent discomfort, they can be removed through a minor surgical procedure.

Gallstones and gallbladder removal

Gallstones form in the gallbladder. The stones can cause gallstone colic with pain under the right rib cage, possibly radiating to the back. Nausea and vomiting may be associated with the colic.

Gallstones can cause complications such as gallbladder inflammation. In addition, they can also cause bile duct obstruction with subsequent development of jaundice and risk of inflammation of the bile ducts and liver. Treatment for recurrent cases of gallstone pain is most often surgery to remove the gallbladder with the stones.

Gastroscopy

A gastroscopy is an endoscopic examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The procedure can be used to determine the cause of your symptoms, take tissue samples, and, in some cases, perform minor treatments.

Hemorrhoids

At Capio, we offer treatment for your hemorrhoids. However, surgery should only be performed if there is a lot of persistent discomfort and other treatments have been tried without success.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a binocular examination of the rectum and colon. Through a flexible fiber tube with a camera at the tip, the doctor/scopy nurse can view the intestinal lining, take tissue samples and remove any polyps.

There is a minimal (1%) risk of perforating the bowel during the examination. There is also a small risk of bleeding if samples are taken from the bowel.

Important information before surgery
If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker, please inform us when you arrive for the examination. This will affect the choice of equipment.

The colon must be completely cleaned out for the examination to be performed. Therefore, it is important that you follow the instructions for cleansing the colon as described in the patient information.

Pilonidal cyst

A pilonidal cyst is a chronic inflammatory condition of the skin between the buttocks that can cause pain, swelling, and recurring abscesses. If symptoms are persistent or recurrent, surgery may be the best treatment.
