Neck - Neck cyst

Neck cysts are fluid accumulations surrounded by a tissue membrane that occur in the neck cavity. The cysts can cause inflammation and should therefore be removed. The cysts are generally benign.

Throat - Laryngoscopy

Symptoms of laryngeal disease include hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, pain, coughing, a 'lump in the throat' sensation and breathing problems. Most diseases of the larynx are benign, but persistent hoarseness can be a symptom of throat cancer.

If laryngeal disease is suspected, the doctor will start by feeling the throat to determine if the larynx can move properly and if there are enlarged lymph nodes. The ENT specialist may also perform an internal examination of the larynx, called a direct laryngoscopy.

A direct laryngoscopy is performed with a rigid laryngoscope, which is made of metal and looks like a tube. The doctor inserts the rigid tube through the oral cavity and pharynx down to the larynx, from where small nodules can be removed and tissue samples can be taken.

Throat - Tonsil removal

Tonsillectomy means the surgical removal of the tonsils (tonsils). Although tonsillectomy is performed less frequently than in the past, it is still one of the most common surgeries performed - especially in children.

On this page you can read more about tonsillectomy.

Nose and sinuses - Adenoids in children

Negative pressure, fluid and possibly recurrent cases of acute otitis media are very common in children. Often the cause is that the eustachian tube (the connection between the middle ear and the nasopharynx) is blocked, for example due to "childhood polyps" (adenoid vegetations), which consist of swollen lymphatic tissue in the nasopharynx. In addition to fluid in the ears, which causes hearing loss, there will often be other symptoms such as "snoring, snot and snot". If symptoms of childhood polyps are present, the swollen lymphatic tissue in the nasopharynx will often be removed. Polyps are removed by surgery through the mouth.

Nose and sinuses - Crooked nasal septum

Crooked nasal septum surgery is performed to correct deviations in the nasal septum that interfere with air passage.

You can read more about crooked nasal septum here.

Nose and sinuses - Sinuses

Sinus surgery aims to alleviate sinusitis tendencies, the formation of polyps and thus symptoms such as nasal congestion, mucus production, poor sense of smell, runny nose, facial pain and possibly headaches. The surgery aims to restore normal conditions in the nasal cavity and improve drainage from the sinuses.

You can read more about treating sinus problems here.

Ear - Drainage in children

Negative pressure, fluid and possibly recurrent cases of acute otitis media are very common in children. Often the cause is that the eustachian tube (the connection between the middle ear and the nasopharynx) is closed, for example due to swollen mucous membranes in the nasopharynx as a result of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections. In addition to fluid in the ears, which causes hearing loss, there will often be other symptoms such as "snoring, snot and sniffles". In cases of fluid in the ears or recurrent otitis media, the doctor will often suggest inserting a drain (small tube) into the eardrum.

Eardrum drainage (tubulation) is performed through the ear canal using an operating microscope. The purpose of the surgery is to create a hole through the eardrum so that the negative pressure in the middle ear can be equalized and otitis media does not develop.

Ear and nose - Balloon dilations

Do you suffer from headaches, facial pressure, ear pressure, recurring sinusitis, fluid in the ears, pressure equalization problems when flying or diving - or pain and ringing in the ears? Then balloon dilation of the sinuses or Eustachian tube can be a gentle and effective solution. The treatment is typically performed under local anesthesia and has minimal recovery time.

Read more about sinus and Eustachian tube balloon dilation here.

Ear - Cholesteatoma

Cholesteatoma is a term for skin pockets in the middle ear. The skin pockets occur because there has been negative pressure in the middle ear for a long time. This allows the eardrum to be pulled into deep pockets that gradually fill with shed skin. These pockets act as foreign bodies, causing inflammation and reaction in the surrounding tissue.

The surgery aims to clean the ear while striving to preserve or improve hearing. However, the primary goal is to remove the disease, so the hearing improvement will be secondary and cannot be guaranteed.

Ear - Parotid gland surgery

Nodules in the parotid gland are predominantly benign (approx. 80%). Prior to surgery, you will always undergo a clinical examination and a needle sample will be taken to determine whether the nodule is benign or malignant. If a lump is left to sit, it can grow and become malignant over time. That's why we recommend having it removed. Our skilled surgeons are ready to help you.

Ear - Stirrup adhesion due to Otosclerosis

Otosclerosis is an ear disease that affects just under 1% of the Danish population. It is hereditary in many cases, but can also occur in families where it has not occurred before. The disease can affect one or possibly both ears. Hearing in the ear is gradually reduced and is often accompanied by tinnitus (hissing or whistling), and there may also be slight dizziness.

Otosclerosis is caused by the bone tissue changing in places and taking up more space. As a result, the stapes gradually becomes increasingly fixed and causes hearing loss. Therefore, in most cases, the main hearing loss in otosclerosis is caused by the stapes getting stuck. There are several possible approaches to treatment, with surgery and hearing aid treatment often resulting from monitoring the progression over time.

Ear - Hearing enhancement surgery

Hearing loss can be caused by several things. Among other things, severed bone connections in the middle ear and a possible perforated eardrum are often the cause, resulting from a prolonged period of negative pressure in the middle ear. The negative pressure is in turn a consequence of poor function of the eustachian tube, which has led to a "chipping" of important bone connections in the middle ear. Often part of the eardrum will be thin or even missing, and when the bony connection is completely or partially severed, hearing is usually significantly impaired. The best type of surgery varies depending on the cause of the hearing loss. Our skilled ear, nose and throat surgeons will help you find the right treatment for your specific problem.

Ear - Eardrum and middle ear surgery

Ruptured eardrums are most often a consequence of prolonged negative pressure in the middle ear, which in turn is a consequence of poor function of the Tuba Eustachii (Eustachian tube). Due to the prolonged negative pressure, the eardrum has been "sucked inwards", losing some of its strength and developing a thin area. This thin area can rupture without healing properly in the case of an otitis media, causing varying degrees of hearing loss. Another problem with a perforated eardrum is that contaminated water in the ear canal can flow unhindered into the middle ear, causing otitis media and chronic ear discharge. That's why it's important to have your ear problems seen by a specialist. Eardrum and middle ear surgery is usually performed through the ear canal using an operating microscope.

Back surgery at Capio

I had lower back surgery at Capio Hellerup over a year ago. I have been incredibly happy with the treatment I received during my hospitalization by both doctors and nurses and the follow-ups they gave me. Huge praise from here.

Hip replacement surgery

I had surgery on Wednesday, December 13th at Capio Aalborg and despite the circumstances, I had a good stay where I got answers to all my questions. I met a staff with great competence and empathy, so I can only give my best recommendations.
Thank you very much for everything.
