Herniated disc - Neck and lower back

Between each vertebrae in the spine lies a cartilage disc - a so-called discus. The disc consists of a hard shell and a soft core. If the hard shell is damaged, either by overuse or as a consequence of age-related and genetic degeneration, part of the soft core can leak out and cause pressure on the spinal nerves. This is called a herniated disc and it causes back pain. Herniated discs are distinguished by where they are located in the back - in the neck, thoracic spine or lumbar spine.

Spinal stenosis

Capio Private Hospital is an expert in the treatment of spinal stenosis, an age- and genetic condition that can cause pain and sensory disturbances in the legs. With a high success rate, our experienced team performs lumbar decompression, where unnecessary tissue is removed to relieve pressure on the nerves. The surgery lasts 1-1½ hours and is followed by a carefully planned rehabilitation period, with individual guidance from our physiotherapists. The patient's well-being is our top priority, both during the hospitalization and the follow-up period.

Lumbar spinal fusion surgery (Lumbar dese)

Spinal fusion surgery is also known as stabilizing back surgery. The name comes from the fact that the purpose of the surgery is to stabilize/stiffen the spine - either after a slipped disc between two vertebrae or due to osteoarthritic changes in the spine. The condition often causes severe back and leg pain, which can be relieved by surgery.
