After the surgery, you will be monitored, and once you are sufficiently awake, you will be offered food and drink.
In most cases, you can be discharged 4–6 hours after the surgery. If you are scheduled to stay overnight, you can expect to be discharged the following morning. You must arrange your own transportation home and are not permitted to drive yourself.
It is normal for your breasts to feel tender and tight after the surgery, and the pain may increase over the first few days, but it will usually subside within a week. For up to 14 days, you may experience stabbing, burning, or throbbing pain, which is normal.
Swelling and discoloration may occur in the surgical area, which typically subside within 1–3 weeks. The sutures are removed approximately 2 weeks after the surgery.
After the surgery, it is recommended that you wear a supportive bra around the clock for 6 weeks. During this time, you should avoid taking the bra off, except when showering.
