Which implants do we use at Capio?

At Capio in Hellerup, we only use high-quality implants from Mentor. Mentor implants are CE marked and are one of the few implant types approved by an expert panel (FDA) for use in cosmetic surgery. We offer a 5-year capsule warranty, which means that if you need surgery within 5 years due to capsular shrinkage, we offer surgery free of charge.

A breast implant consists of a silicone gel surrounded by a thick, elastic silicone shell with a nubbly surface. The contents can consist of more or less viscous silicone gels and the implants can be round or teardrop-shaped.

How long do breast implants last?

Modern implants last for many years - how long can't be predicted, but you can reasonably expect them to last at least 10 years and probably considerably longer. However, it is important to consider that one or more replacement surgeries may be required at a later date. Even with the best breast implants, we can't promise that they will last a lifetime.

Are breast implants dangerous?

Breast surgeons and plastic surgeons worldwide have concluded that breast implants are safe, but that they can cause very rare and, in some cases, serious complications. At Capio, we only use high-quality breast implants from Mentor. Mentor implants are CE marked and are one of the few types of implants approved by an expert panel (FDA) for use in cosmetic surgery.

Is there a product warranty on the implants?

All Mentor silicone implants come with a lifetime product warranty. If an implant breaks, you will receive a new implant - however, you will have to pay for the surgery yourself. If an implant breaks within 10 years, you will also receive 1000 Euro to help with the cost of the surgery.

Special precautions

If you are over 45 years old or genetically predisposed to breast cancer, you should have a mammography screening and possibly an ultrasound scan of the breasts no later than 14 days before your planned surgery.
