Many women are happy with the size of their breasts, but are unhappy that their breasts have started to sag or have lost their firmness. In these cases, a breast lift, which removes the excess skin, can give the breasts a natural lift that many women are happy with.

Conversely, some women are either physically or cosmetically bothered by large breasts. Breast lift

Small breast lift: In a small breast lift, the surgeon only removes skin around the nipple. Therefore, you will only have scars around the nipple.

Intermediate breast lift: With an intermediate breast lift, you will have a scar around the nipple and vertically down from the nipple.

Large breast lift: With a large breast lift, you will have a scar in between the breast lift and in the furrow under the breast - a so-called anchor-shaped incision. Even a large breast lift does not add fullness to the top of the breast.

"Reduction-augmentation" - breast lift and implant: With reduction-augmentation, you get a scar similar to the large breast lift. However, the lower, heavy part of the breast tissue is removed (reduction), while upper fullness is added using implants (augmentation).

Extended breast lift: If you want a breast lift and fullness at the very top of the breast, but want to avoid implants, Capio offers something special: an extended breast lift. With the extended breast lift, you get a scar like the large breast lift, but instead of an implant, your own breast tissue is used to create fullness. The plastic surgeon sews the mammary gland onto the chest, reinforces/repairs the furrow under the breast and reshapes the shape of the breast to make it more perky.

Precautions before surgery

There are a number of precautions that are important to take before considering a breast lift or reduction.

If you are over 45 years old, you should have a mammogram or breast ultrasound scan within 14 days before surgery
To achieve a good result, it is important that you are not overweight
If you are considering pregnancy within the next few years, postpone surgery until after childbirth and breastfeeding

At least one week must pass from the preliminary examination to the surgery if the procedure is considered purely cosmetic.

Asymmetry

The treatment always aims to create a natural result. Many women have naturally asymmetrical breasts and the aim during surgery is to achieve as much symmetry as possible. Despite this, there is a risk that complete symmetry may not be achieved. However, it is rare that such asymmetry requires subsequent correction.

The course of the surgery

The surgery lasts 2-3 hours. Immediately before surgery, the plastic surgeon will mark the new location of the nipple and incisions and thus the location of the scars. During the surgery, the surgeon removes excess skin and, in some cases, mammary gland tissue. If there is a lot of fatty tissue in the breasts, liposuction is also performed. The nipple is preserved.
