Education and training

Allan Ibsen Sørensen is a medical doctor from the University of Copenhagen in 1983 and a specialist in orthopedic surgery with training in hand surgery at the university hospitals Rigshospitalet and Gentofte Hospital.

Experience

Since 1997, he has worked exclusively with hand surgery and has been responsible for hand surgery treatment and head of orthopaedic surgery in the county of West Zealand.

From 2002-2010, he was a consultant at the hand surgery section at Rigshospitalet. Here he covered the full range of advanced hand surgery disorders, and was also responsible for arthroscopic and endoscopic hand surgery (binocular techniques in joints and carpal tunnel syndrome) as well as the national function for hand surgery treatment of chronic rheumatoid arthritis. He introduced the needle technique in the treatment of cushioning finger. He carried out quality assurance and research projects on artificial hand and finger joints at Rigshospitalet and in collaboration with international hand surgery centers.

Since 2010, Allan Ibsen Sørensen has been a consultant at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden.
