Capio continues the positive collaboration on physiotherapy and medical expertise for the Danish surf and SUP national teams
Surf & SUP Denmark and Capio Privathospital will continue the collaboration in 2023 to continue to create a good framework and conditions for the best Danish surf & SUP athletes. Similarly, it will continue to be possible for the association's general members to access physiotherapeutic services specifically targeted at the surf and SUP sport. These services are offered at Capio Gildhøj, which is located in Brøndby.
Capio has extensive experience with prevention and rehabilitation in the world of sports and especially in relation to surfing and SUP sports, the former competitive surfer, Reimer Skov Hansen, is employed as a physiotherapist at the hospital. Reimer has been an active surfer for 35 years, which among other things brought him to the World Championships in California back in 1996 as the first Dane ever. In addition, he has more than 20 years of experience in the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
"I look forward to continuing the collaboration with the Danish surfers and sharing even more of my experience and approach to training and prevention. It's really exciting to be able to contribute to a sport that is still in great development," says Reimer Skov Hansen, physiotherapist at Capio Gildhøj.
The collaboration between Capio and Surf & SUP Denmark works on two tracks. Firstly, the best athletes will have access to screenings and treatments, while members of the associations can access a range of physiotherapeutic and medical services at special prices. In addition, Reimer Skov Hansen will be activated in a number of camp and event activities organized by Surf & SUP Denmark.

We have a responsibility to take good care of our athletes and everyone else who participates in surfing and SUP and prevent potential injuries with the right training. Capio is recognized in the world of sports with skilled specialists in training and prevention, and therefore it makes perfect sense to continue the collaboration", says Michael Lindberg, Head of Secretariat in Surf & SUP Denmark.
In 2022, Capio and Surf & SUP Denmark developed more than 40 training exercises that are available to all members of the association. The agreement with Capio runs until 2023, after which the parties have a mutual expectation to renegotiate a new agreement for 2024.
