Education and training

Medical degree from Aarhus University. Danish specialist authorization in surgery 1988 and surgical gastroenterology 1993. Certified by the Danish Surgical Society in the field of surgical diseases of the colon and rectum (colorectal surgery) and UEMS (European Association of Medical Specialists) certified in pediatric surgery.

I have been employed at a number of surgical departments in Jutland and on Funen, first as a resident and later as a 1st resident until my appointment as a consultant at the Department of Surgery at Odense University Hospital in 1995 - and as a professor from 2005. Experience

During my training as a resident and later as a consultant, I performed a wide range of surgical tasks, which in recent years have been more concentrated on chronic intestinal inflammation, rectal diseases and congenital malformations of the intestinal system.

Medical doctorate from Odense University 1995 and published a large number of research articles in the field of surgery. Has participated in national and international groups responsible for the preparation of clinical guidelines for the treatment of diseases of the rectum.

Member of the board of the Danish Gastroenterological Society (DGS) 1992-96 and secretary from 1993-96. Member of the Continuing Education Committee in DGS from 1999-2007. Member of the board of the Scandinavian Association on Gastrointestinal Motility 1995 and chairman in the period 1999-2003. Danish Surgical Society, Secretary General 1999, Vice Chairman 2002, Chairman 2004-2006 and Chairman ex. officio 2006. Danish Medical Society, Member of the Board 2006 and Vice Chairman 2008-2014. Member of the International Surgical Group 2009.
