Surgical background

Primarily, my main interest was fracture surgery and joint replacement surgery.

Since joining Rigshospital, the focus has been on the removal of benign and malignant tumors, with all anatomical locations except the central nervous system.

As a result of working in the Sarcoma Center at Rigshospitalet, Tomas has experience working with a wide range of colleagues in the musculoskeletal field, concentrating on the surgical treatment of benign and malignant soft tissue and bone tumors of the musculoskeletal system.

For many years, he has been involved in interdisciplinary surgical efforts to advance extremity and mobility preservation surgery. Thus, in collaboration with thoracic, abdominal, plastic, hand and spine surgeons, as well as urologists, he is engaged in the removal of bone and soft tissue tumors with subsequent reconstruction with joint prostheses, thoracic and abdominal wall reconstructions, and is involved in the increasing use of these techniques in metastatic surgery.

Also participates, in collaboration with plastic surgeons, in the part of extremity preservation surgery where vascularized bone grafts (bone grafts with vascular supply) are inserted to reconstruct bones in the arms and legs.
