In connection with the surgery, a large amount of local anesthesia will be placed around your knee, which means that you will be well relieved when the anesthesia in your back wears off. You should expect to be hospitalized for 1-2 days after the surgery. During hospitalization and after you have returned home, you will receive our pain package, which consists of several different types of pain management that together provide the best pain relief.
During your hospitalization, a physiotherapist will exercise with you, but it is important that you also exercise according to the instructions given by the physiotherapist. An ice cuff will be available during your hospitalization to relieve knee pain with ice water.
Once you are discharged, you will be offered an outpatient check-up with your surgeon after 3 months and you will need to book an appointment with your GP 3 weeks after surgery for the removal of the small clips that are placed in the skin. You will also be called in for outpatient rehabilitation in your municipality.
